We own Galveston Computer Solutions and have been there for 10 years. Great business, great clients. Got hit by Hurricane IKE and storm surge was bad. We got 8 foot of water in our office and we could not get all equipment out in time. We are going to rebuild but do a few things differently. Sorry for the sad beginning. Anyhow I do remote backup's do Colo4Dallas and we had exchange backed up to our remote backup server. I own a virtualization server that lives there, built a windows 2003 x64 box, setup domain and installed exchange 07. Restored all email. We've been working out of OWA just fine but everyone misses there outlook. We use a fortinet 200a firewall there which is in transparent mode, I was wondering how secure it would be to authorize our office IP to have full access to the exchange server and setup outlook. Outlook encrypts the connectoin right? You lose VPN on the fortinet's when they are in transparent mode, I was thinking about buying a smaller fortinet and putting it between the exchange server and the internet and building a vpn but funds are very tight right now. I know there are some options as well with outlook anywhere... anyhow thoughts on this please. Thank you!
