Ok for me personally as well as a couple clients I have, (very, very small businesses who do have email and a web presence) I'm looking into a UTM solution in terms of security; both web and email, along with web caching and firewall. Well and free is always a bonus ;p
In the past I've tried IPCop, Smoothwall, M0n0wall, Endian, E-Box, Untangle, etc. But from the hours of googling I've spent I've come down to two possible solutions:
1. Setup either Untangle or Astaro Security Gateway on a single machine
2. Setup VMware ESXi running both a firewall appliance like M0n0 then a content filter like Astaro.
I'd really, REALLY like some opinions on these ideas. The hardware I've got is more than enough to run both in a Virtual setup and while the reviews on Astaro are awesome in terms of its mail/web security, I have no personal experience with its firewalling capabilities. But now M0n0wall gives me a warm and fuzzy and its interface is very easy to handle.
So fellow geeks please give me your thoughts..
