McAfee Autoupdate

I am attempting to use the Autoupdate facility with McAfee Virus scan, to update the .DAT file. In an attempt to cut down on network traffic, i am downloading the .DAT file, to the server, and in turn using the Mirroring facility to pull across the .DAT to each pc locally.
This works well. The only problem is, is that when i run autoupdate to pick up the update from the specified local drive, it does not do it.
I get an error message that states my configuration is incorrect. It is driving me mad!!!!!
Does anyone have the solution, please!
