non-stop popups

I downloaded this spyware that keeps identifying spyware in my registry.  It says it is deleted but as I use the internet, there are non-stop popups.  They all begin with this one that says, "manipulatingtheicesurface.com"  I have put up popup blockers.  I have tried to block that internet site.  But nonstop, I get popups.

Hi ctoni,

Most popup blockers work by stopping popups originating from web pages.  However, some spyware/adware apps attempt to circumvent this by installing applications on your machine that open instances of Internet explorer with a webpage.  This is technically not a popup, although to a user it's the same pain in the butt.

I recommend you download AdAware, a spyware removal tool.  You can find it here: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Run it, let it find and remove spyware.  Then reboot into safe mode and run it again.

You might also want to try the following:
* Check your Startup folder for any AdWare apps.  This folder is located at
         Start -> Programs -> Startup
* Check your registry for additional startup applications
         \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
   Be very careful about what you delete in the registry and make a backup of your registry before you make any changes.

Hi ctoni,

There could be spywares that might be causing this

Some of the experts here have helped in compiling all the important spyware tools and they are listed in this thread

My recommendation would be to start with spybot ,ad-ware ,CWshredder and post the log from Hijackthis

After installing them, First Update them and then run

I have found the following combination to be about the best:

Run SpyBoy Search & Destroy 1.3
Run AdAware 6
Install Google Toolbar

That should keep it clean.

Or instead of using Internet Explorer, use a browser like mozilla

It has a popupblocker integrated.

See if the Messenger Service is running.  Control Panel>Admin Tools>Services  
If it is running, stop and disable it.

FYI  This is not MSN Messenger or Sindows Messenger, completely unrelated
