The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. "VirusRemover2008" Spyware. How do I safely remove it?

One of our clients has "VirusRemover2008" spyware. If you Google it there are several references to it (though nothing I can see on EE)

It is a pretty bad one, one of those infections that purports to be genuine anti-spyware stuff, but certainly isn't!

Rthere are some Google links with removal instrucionts and one with an automated one

It recommends the use of SmitFraudFix  which I think I have heard of before, but would like to be sure it's genuine.

So, can anyone tell me if this is OK to do? Or does anyone have a good, easy, preferably automated, foolproof method of removing this?

We have Sophos anti-virus on this PC (it's part of a network) but this spyware has slipped through somehow
