I can get on the internet just fine...my home page works fine but when I type in a new address in address bar (like www.google.com) it will try to open up a new browser and then the new browser will stay blank or white and then lock up he computer until you caontrol alt delte it and they you are back to the home page.

Sounds like you may have an infection.  What anti-virus/anti-spyware are you running?  Did you recently upgrade to IE8?

have you tried resetting IE default settings or disabling the third-party add-ons?

yes I disabled all add ons.......It is explorer 6...ran superantispyware pro and malewae on it.

I ended up reinstalling windows xp os and did all the updates and all is working fine....Thansk for all the help
