Question

wincodecpro trojan Virus

I have a client that has the WinCodecPro Trojan.  It however does not fit the profile of the trojan that was discovered in March 2009.  I have run ComboFix, SmitFraud, MalwareBytes and HijackThis.  None of the virus/spyware removal tools will even detect that there is a virus.
Has anyone seen a new variation of this virus?

There are no entries regarding the codec in the registry.  It is almost like the virus is attacking the Master Boot Record.  Any help will be greatly appreciated

You should be able to remove this with SmitFraudFix. The directions and free software are located here.

Could you run autoruns (dont make any changes within autoruns)
Autoruns http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

Within Autoruns,select the file tab and select save(Ctrl+S)
Upload that file(autoruns.arn) to http://www.ee-stuff.com/Expert/Upload/upload.php

Can you attach your ComboFix log here along with an updated (run the scan again) log from HijackThis?

The updated version of ComboFix removed it for now.  ComboFix was run previously, but did not detect it or remove it.  The recent update must have included a fix for the WinCodecPro trojan.  SmitFraudFix did not fix or detect it.  Thanks for your help.
