I'm locking down our web servers and just wanted to confirm which ports are needed and which aren't.
At the moment I've allowed port 80, 443 and 8080 from any IP address but this doesn't enable websites ti be displayed. I've also allowed ICMP traffic to from IP address.
As a comparable, I've allowed my office IP address to access all ports and this can view web pages fine, which tells me I must be missing a vital port somewhere, although I thought only port 80 was required? In IIS the website is configured to use port 80 so I'm a little baffled by this.
It's a Windows 2003 server we use for development, configured with Cisco firewall and hosted by 1and1 (UK).
