How does an administrator hide/unhide Windows Explorer's Folder Options to specific users?
I'm a new XP administrator. Could someone please help out?
Currently, this feature (Windows Explorer - Tools - View Folder Options) is hidden from the user but I want to unhide it. How?
I have the administrator password.
Thanks in advance.

Group Policy Hides Both Add/Remove Programs and Folder Options Tools for Roaming Profiles

Note if this is set at domain level you need Edit rights on the group policy object to change it
to see if it is
start > run >cmd {enter}

When I do what PeteLong suggested, I see "Windows Explorer - Removes the Folder Options menu items from the Tools menu" ENABLED!
It doesn't seem to let me delete or disable this item. Any ideas?

Weird thing is that when I tried GPEDIT.MSC as suggested by SheharyaarSaahil, this particular setting "Removes Removes the Folder Options menu items from the Tools menu" is set at "Not Configured" and the Enabled radial button is not selected!
this system is a stadnalone system or connected in a domain environment ??
>>Removes the Folder Options menu items from the Tools menu" ENABLED!
set it to "not configured"
set it to "not configured"
ASKER
>> set it to "not configured"
it can't be done as it's grayed out.
This system is not a standalone system.
What else can I do?

>>>Currently, this feature (Windows Explorer - Tools - View Folder Options) is hidden from the user but I want to unhide it. How?
Why you want to unhide this options and special reason for this ?.
then you say: -
>>>I have the administrator password.
What does it mean? As you say that you have administrator password. It seems you are not a domain administrator and of course a local user and trying to disturb the current network which is running fine.
again you say: -
>>>This system is not a standalone system.
So settings are comming from Domain Controller for ur system (as suggested by SS) and therefore you need to contact ur domain administrator if you want to make any changes to ur system. There are some ways to bypass Domain Group Policy even if you are a user but i won't tell you untill you tell me the reason for this.
Thankx

My reason is very simple. As I stated I just want to unhide the Folder Options under Windows Explorer - Tools - View Folder Options. Currently, this option is hidden. All folders are viewed by thumbnails and I just want to view them ALL by "Details".
Could you tell me how to bypass Domain Group Policy? Or if I can just unhide this feature by any other means, I'll do that.
Thanks SS and Pete, I will split the points proportionally among you two or three if SystmProg is willing to share his tip.
Thanks again!

I still don't quite understand why it is illegal to do such a logical task. It will definitely make my (and others') life so much easier. I also wasn't hostaging the points or anything, I just want to let you know that I want to be fair, that's all. I respect your concerns this is being a illegal request, let me stop here and thank you all for your help. :)
I really appreciate it and I learn something from it too.

you are a good soul rx3..... but not everyone is a good enough..... people can take advantages of such things and can harm the whole system if they will come to know that how to break policies! :)

If you are the Adminsitrator then you can unhide it via registry or group policy, check the suggestions here from Ramesh!
"Single-click to open an item" in the Folder Options is grayed out
