iTunes gets a blank screen instead of the iTunes Store

Running the latest version of iTunes (10.4.0.80) on XP SP3.

When I go to the iTunes Store from within iTunes, I just get a blank white screen that says iTunes store, as if it's unable to connect.  Internet connection is fine, though, and iTunes' "network connectivity tests" say everything's fine.

I have tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it (and even uninstalling it using Revo Uninstaller, and thoroughly cleansing all registry entries and configuration files associated with it, and then reinstalling.)  It does the same thing on all three user accounts (by which I mean Windows users, not iTunes users) on the machine, so I don't t think it's an iTunes configuration issue or corrupted configuration file.

Hosts file is the default hosts file, nothing strange there.

Windows firewall is off/disabled.  No other firewall on the machine.  Have run various virus/malware checks, they all come up clean.  Am able to "authorize" the computer with the iTunes store, and download new episodes of podcasts that are already listed in my library etc, so it's clearly able to connect to the iTunes store...just won't DISPLAY the store. (So I can't, for example, add new podcasts, or buy music.)

I have also emptied the cache/temporary internet files on both IE and Firefox.  Safari is not installed on this computer.  In desperation, I have even run winsockfix.  I have run sfc /scannow, to make sure it wasn't a problem with an underlying Windows system file.

Other computers on the same network (as well as my iPhone, also connected to the same wireless network) can use the iTunes store just fine.

Help!  I'm at the end of my rope!

Try this trick with the parental control setting

Your far from alone with this, some users have reinstalled iTunes or upgraded by a version to fix it.

Thanks a million!  Using Revo Uninstaller to remove all six Apple applications in the order indicated (iTunes, then Quicktime, then Apple Software Update, then Apple Mobile Product Support, then Bonjour, then Apple Application Support), and then reinstalling iTunes did the trick.  Now my wife can download new podcasts!

Experts Exchange and southwestsixteen for the WIN!
Glad it worked. Thanks for the points :)
