The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Document managment system and archiver

Asked by cmmonline in Business Management Software, MS SQL Server, Server Software

I was asked by the owner of my company for an opinion on finding a software package that we can use to scan old documents, such as prints, shipping documents, signed customer documents, ect. ect. Catalog them by reading the text on the paper(OCR of some kind) in volumes of 15-25 sheets at a time possibly more. We are transitioning from old paper system into digital and need to catalog our old documents and archive them and also make them searchable. Our Engineering proceedures require our customers to sign prints then fax them back to us and then we would like to make them digital as well as we receive them. I have seen some demo's online of some software companies but have not seen anything that really grabs my attention yet. Also looking for a scanner that can handle this type of work load that is reliable and not down 5 times a week.

Our current network is a internal domain (ourcompany.local) it consist of
*MS Windows Server 2003 R2 with Full SQL Capabilities (new Dell 5 months old)
*25-30 Workstations

Software we currently use is
*Microsoft Office
*Autodesk Inventor 2008....soon to be 2009 (current subscription)
*Autodesk Vault 2008....soon to be 2009 (current subscription)(SQL)
*Filemaker 9 (which I personally think is a waste of time and valuable resources)(SQL)
*Job Pack (SQL)
*UPS shipping
*Quickbooks Enterprise Edition

Any opinions or help would be greatly appreciated! Lots of points for a good answer! Also let me know if you need any more information from me to help you with a referal!
