Currently we have a small database that keeps all of our Items that our designers work on. We need a software/database that will create an Item #, keep track of revision, and when the designers are ready, will send an email to the appropriate person in the Project Developemnet Managers (PDM) group. The PDM will then send it to our sourcing guys in our HK/China office. The PDM should be able to assign task to different people in the Hk/China office and have a timeline when these tasks are due. The China workers should be able to update the DB with notes of the task progression and create additional task if neccessary. We want to track how long a project take from beginning to completion. We would like to keep data on all materials that were use, factories that were use, etc. We are not doing anything different than any other manufacturing firm, but we can't seem to find such a software. Currently we have all of our info in different places. We want to put all of our info into this one DB. This mean out Customer info, case info, project info, track our project, Quality assurance, etc. The DB doesn't have to hold our accounting info since we have MS GreatPlains for that. It would be great if it can interface with Greatplains, but not neccessary. We have tried a couple of workflow management software such as Teamwork, but none seems promising. Any suggestion is welcome.

Hi koszegi,
That's a pretty tall order and it combines requirements that are easy to find as standalone products. I'm not aware of a suite that does what you ask but your best bet would be to browse SourceForge to see what has been submitted there. Our company uses dotProject to manage teams across multiple countries but I am not sure it has all the features you need.
