Can you play XBox 360 games on a PC in multiplayer mode?

Hi There --
Just purchased an XBox 360 controller for PC (usb).  I want to know if there is a way you can hook up two controllers to the PC?  One wired and one wireless, perhaps?
Thanks for your help.

I read about using Pinnacle Game Profiler to configure the controller for a game... is that what you mean by "emulator software", FlooringPro?

So it sounds like I can buy a couple of controllers so my son & a friend can play a two-person xbox360 game that has an option for 2 people to play together.

Thanks for the info!  ;-)  Ronda
Rhonda,
In order to play the actual Xbox360 games on a PC you would need to install a piece of software known as an emulator onto the PC. Xbox360 games will not play on a pc unless you have that software installed.
If your playing the Xbox360 games through the xbox and wondering if you would need an additional controller to play multiplayer games, then the answer would be yet.  The Xbox 360 can support up to 4 players (without the addition of an expander), playing the same game simultaneously.

Thank you for your patience, FlooringPro, as I am a total newbie to this whole gaming world.  My 10 year old son is dragging me into it!  ;-)

I am a database developer, however, so I am computer literate... thankfully that at least helps me to understand any advice you give.

The game he is purchasing is a game that debuted on the XBox, but has also been realeased for the PC.  He has played the XBox version on an XBox at a friends house, and wants to play it at home.  The plan is to purchase the PC software and the XBox controller for PC.  My question was whether I could hook two controllers to the computer so my son can play with his friend when they come over here.

Given that it's a PC-based game, do I need the emulator software?  Or just something like the Pinnacle software, that will configure the buttons and such on the controller for the game?

Thanks again.
Ahhh ty for the clarification.  Much better, if the game is designed for the PC then your all set.  You should be able to play multiplayer, as long has the actual game supports the option.  Pinnacle shouldnt even be neccessary, if the game supports a local multiplayer option.  Game controller configuration can be handled in the game itself.  Most multiplayer PC games that have been ported over from the XBOX have some kind of option to allow for a local type of multiplyer setup.  Which game is it and ill do a bit of research for you?

It's a Halo game, don't think it's the latest one.  Thanks for the offer... don't spend a lot of time!  ;-)  Ronda
Ahhh Halo, wonderful game.  Halo supports Multiplayer in several different ways.  Capture the flag, Deathmatch and a couple others are the modes that can be played.  Your son and his friend will be able to play against each other in one of these modes (should keep 'em busy for several hours ! :)).
In the bit of research i've done, it would appear that Halo and Halo2 do not support Co-operative mode (Where 2-4 people can play the campaigns together).  Halo3 does appear to support this mode type.

Thanks for the info!  I'm not a big fan of FPS games (see... I'm even getting to know the lingo, ha ha), but I know this one is VERY popular, and at least they are shooting at aliens most of the time.  To me, sci fi fantasy seems better than Grand Theft Auto or some graphic war game.  I'll make sure we get Halo 3 or later.

Thanks again for your time.
