The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Normalization - early in db design

Asked by Petrobras in Access Architecture/Design

Hello, I am fairly new at Access relationship building.  I know forms and reports quite well though.  I hope I dont confuse with my explanation as I dont understand proper relationships that allow for normalization.   I want this db to be normalized and do not know how many tables I should break it all up into to prevent duplication of data.  I have never designed a normalized db.  I am at the table creation pt in the db and have not gone any further.
The tables I have :
1.      tblBorrower with contact info
2.      tblGuarantor - with contact info
3.      tblApplicant - with contact info
4.      tblTypeOfFacility this is where I get confused
                      a.  Letter of Credit
                                  i.  tblBeneficiaryOfLC (this tbl relates to lLetter of Credit as there will be an    underlying beneficiary for each Letter of Credit). The beneficiary company is overseas.  I assume I need a separate table and link to tblTypeOfFacility
                                   ii. BeneficiaryID
                                  iii. BeneficiaryCoName
iv.tblApplicantOfLC- (this tbl relates to Letter of Credit as there will be an underlying applicant for each Letter of Credit). The applicant is a US company that is applying for the Beneficiary overseas.  I assume I need a separate table.
b. Syndicated Credit
                                i.  Links back to tblBorrower, can also have a Guarantor.
c.Placement
                                 i. Links back to tblBorrower, can also have a Guarantor.
d.Loan
                    1.  Links back to tblBorrower, can also have a Guarantor.
5.tblFees
                      a.feesID
                      b.Amount
6.tblPricing
                     a.pricingID
b.Pricing (this would be a dropdown list:  eg  1 basis pt, 2,3,4,&300 basis points)
7.tblApplicationDetails each tblTypeOfFacility will have application details
                     a.TransactionNo
                     b.Memo

(I hope this postsformatted correctly)
