The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. One Database for A Small Business - Best Practice Question

I'm starting our company's database over again from scratch and want to institute best practices this time around.

I have a two part question:

1)  Is it feasible or recommended to have one Database (either Access or SQL Server) for a small company (only 2-10 employees)?

I'm wanting to have our vendor price lists, our master price list, Quickbooks ODBC linked tables, etc. etc. in one database so that we're not hunting for the right database through a tree of folders.

Is this a good idea or should I have separate databases for each activity?

2)  If one database is ok, what naming conventions should I use for all the tables?  I know about using an underscore _ instead of a space for the table names but how about something like:
  OurCompany:MFR_Profit_Markups
  OurCompany:Mfr_List
  OurCompany:Master_Parts_Pricing
  QB:Salesorders
  Vendor:AcmeBrick_Price_File
  Vendor:Super_Widgets_Price_File

you get the idea-basically grouping all the tables so we know what the tables are.

I don't figure there's a right or wrong answer but am just asking for input.  So everyone who answers with a good response will split all the points equally.
