The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

How do I automate synchronization with a macro or VB code?

Asked by mmuscare in Access Coding/Macros, Microsoft Access Database, Access Architecture/Design

I've set up a VPN and created a mapped drive P:\ where I put the Design Master file for my database.  I have computers at several locations throughout New Orleans that have indepdent local versions of my database on their machines.  Each one has a mapped drive P:\ so they can access the Design Master database for synchronization.  I want to set up a macro to automatically synchronize with the Design Master every time someone starts the database.  I tried looking under the "RunCommand" options in MS Access Macro designer, and found a command called Synchronize Now.  But, when you run the macro it pulls up a "Synchroize Database window and it has 3 radio buttons "Directly with Replica:", which is the only option that isn't greyed out, and "In the background with all synchronizers, and In the background with synchronizer (both greyed out).  Each time you have to click OK and click YES to close the database to begin.  I want it to be an automatic thing when people open the database, because my users are kind of technically challenged, and plus I'm not sure they'd remember to do it.

Anyone know a way to write a VB function to do this on open of the switchboard or is there perhaps a way to set up a simple macro to do this with the necessary parameters to tell Access where the file it's synchronizing with is located?
