The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Microsoft Access 2003 - Error Message - Microsoft Office Access has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Asked by jsprenk55 in Access Forms, Microsoft Access Database

Tags: , , , ,

I have an Access 2003 (SP3) database (front-end) with linked tables (via ODBC datasource) to a SQL 2000 database (back-end).  Whenever I edit a form in design view that utilizes one particular table in my SQL database and I attempt to save the form, I receive the error message  "Microsoft Office Access has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience".  This error occurs if the form uses the table as its record source or even if it just uses the table as a row source to populate a combo box.  The form runs fine, it just cannot be edited and saved in design view.  This error has only recently popped up.  We recently upgraded from SQL version 7.  Things that I have tried:

1. If I create a query based on the table and limit the number of fields I use, then the form can be saved.  The table in question has approx. 64 fields most of which are bit fields.
2. I created a new fresh database and the same error occurrs.

I am thinking that it has something to do with the number of fields in the table and/or the fact that most of the fields are bit fields.  Our database administrator could find no problems with the SQL table in question.  Start Free Trial
