I have a form set up to collect information about a user. Once the user is done answering the questions, they hit a button that runs a macro. The macro is saving the record to a table, printing and then reseting the form. All the controls have been removed from the form, so that the user can not move forward or backwards revealing other entries. It functions a lot like a kiosk.
Here's the problem I am having and this is all set up in the form itself.
The form opens with focus in the right space. You are able to tab from field to field with no error message. But if you enter a character(s) in a field and then delete them (which then leaves the field empty) and then tab out, it displays the error message I'm looking for.
Very basic example of what I want to happen:
The form has 6 fields. First Name, Last Name, Address, City, State, Zip. When the form opens, the cursor is in the First Name field. If you enter your name you have the ability to go to the Last Name field. If you enter absolutely nothing when it opens and try to tab to the next field a message box comes up saying "Please enter your First Name". Actually, it would look nicer to display the message inside the text field, but the message box is fine, don't want it to get too complicated.
This is what I'm using for the Validation Rule: >Now()
Validation Text: Please enter your First Name
Seems like I am missing one simple step, I just cant figure it out.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Also, I should note that I have little/no experience so if you could explain where code and all the other stuff needs to go, that would be great.
Thanks in advance!!!
I have a Validation Rule with corresponding Validation Text for each text box.
