The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Error FRM-40501 on a view based form (view with instead of trigger)

Asked by Colorker in Oracle Database

Tags: , ,

HI. First of all, sorry for my English, i will try to explain my problem....

I have two views. They are based on two tables each one.
In my Form there is two blocks. typicall master/detail scenario.
The master is the first view based in two tables. The detail is another block with the another view based in two tables too.
The two views have the "instead of" trigger implemented. It works fine, i can insert, delete, edit from TOAD, and the changes applies in the two tables.
From Forms, i can edit, save , delete, in master and detail too. But i have a problem:
When i create a detail record , i can't change fields on master block until i refresh the detail block (F7 and F8). I get then FRM-40501 when i try to change any field.
I get the same  problem if i go to a second detail record, i can create it, but if i navigate to the first detail record i get the FRM-40501 error too if i try to change any field.
If i save the changes, all is saved in database without problem. If i search another master/detail recorded, i can change all ok. Only fails when i create new detalis records in a new master record.
Help, please!!!!
