Try defragging the systems your trying to capture. Also, remember that imageX will not capture a file if it is in use. Are the drives being captured almost full? Also, if there is trouble with the file system, imageX can fail on a capture. Run chkdsk on the drive before capturing.

You could try using Shadow Copy to copy the entire drive to a subdirectory on the target disk, then capture that subdirectory. This will insure that the files are not in use. Another advantage of using this Shadow Copy program is that you can capture a drive into a .wim file while booted from the volume you are capturing, so no need to boot to WinPE to do the capture.
