I have cvs-1.11 installed on RHEL4.0.
Can anybody please tell me how can I take backup of my CVS repository?
Also please tell me how to restore CVS repository.
I may also need to transfer CVS repository from one server to another server.
Thanks,

CVS files are just your files with special "mark up".
If you back up one level above your $CVSROOT, you get everything:
For example your CVSROOT path is /usr/local/cvsroot
You would:
$ cd /usr/local
$ tar czvf {backup_name}.tar.gz cvsroot
(the v option is verbose, you might not want it, just czf)
That would be your whole cvs depository in one tarball.
To restore:
$ cd /usr/local
$ tar xzvf {path}/{backup_name}.tar.g
(then you got your whole cvs depository back.)
$ tar zxvf

CVS Are just simple files. Backup all of the repository directory and any files under it and that it. Restore is also as simple as copying back the files.
Note the CVSROOT and CVS directories - this is mostly where the meta data resides.
