Several version control solutions implement a feature called sharing where a file X can exist in muliple places (A, B, and C) within the repository. So if I change file X in under folder A, the changes will be reflected in locations B and C.
So no matter where I change file X (A, B or C), all places remain up-to-date.
This feature was part of Visual Source Safe 6.x. Not sure if it was carried over to the newer versions. Also Borland StarTeam implements this feature but it is not as robust as the Source Safe implementation.
Mikal613,
Thanks, I saw that blog posting but was not sure if it was referring to v. 2008 or the original TFS. I guess by the date of the posting, I'm assuming it's about 2008.
I just ran across this posting as well outlining the new features within 2008.
