Adding a developer to my team

Hello,

Basically I have been developing a .NET application in house at a financial services company for the last year. Until now I have been plodding along on my along developing the app on VS 2005 (recently upgraded to VS 2008 standard) with the source held on my HDD at work.

They are now going to bring on another programmer to help me speed the process along.
I am looking for guidance as to the best way we can both work on this project.

The project is made up of an EXE project and several other class projects which are compiled as dlls. I have tried copying the project dir to the server at work and just tryed to open the project from home via VPN. However this downloaded around 60mb through the VPN before the the project was loaded in VS. And then the GUI is very slow.

What are my options? There must be a more sophisticated way to share a large project between developers over the inet?
