Question

How can I edit a change comment (description text) for a change that was already submitted?

We use Perforce with the Visual Client for source control.  However, occasionally I make a mistake or have a typo in my changelist comment that I don't notice until later.  If I double-click on my change in the history list I can see a list of my changed files and my check-in comment, but I can't find any way to update the comment text.  Is there any way to update a changelist comment (or "descriptive text") after the changes have been submitted?  It seems like a trivial action, but I so far I can't figure out how to do it.  We are using version 2007-Nov-6.

Thanks for the support link, Kdo.  Here is the reply they sent me:

In order to change the description of a submitted changelist, you need to be a superuser and use the command line client command 'p4 changes' with the -f
(force) option, like so:

   p4 change -f <change#>

You will then be able to edit the description.
