Why would you suggest that when I'm asking for a NICER user interface!?
Are you trying to be sarcastic or what? Do you work for them?
For the readers, I've just found SmartSVN and looks nice so for (and I'm not affiliated with them).
Any other suggestion is still welcome.

--Depending what development tools you are using, there may be a plugin available that works with it.
As for the directories, your working copy has to have the .SVN folders in order for it to work with the repository. There's no way around that.
