The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

software for prisoners

Asked by ixeye in Education Industry, Miscellaneous Security, Public Agency Industry

I am looking for anybody who has found good educational (and
secure) software for Segregation prisoners in a non-internet connected
location. We would preferably like to look at Open source solutions
because of the licensing issues. Also please respond back if you
have an opinion on any of the products I name.

This is the list of software that we trying to find currently:
1. Multilingual dictionary
2. Geography program (currently have Geography Wizard 2.0)
3. Typing program (currently have Keyboard Trainer and Keypad Trainer 4.2)
4. Chess (something like http://www.3dkingdoms.com/chess/slow.htm) or
    anything at http://www.brothersoft.com/games/free-chess/.
7. ESL (something like http://sourceforge.net/projects/atla/
8. Locked down chat program (feedback loop for teachers only)
9. Locked down standalone writing program (for typing up reports, etc for English classes) and that would allow the student to save as a particular document type only (eliminating
the possibility of saving as bat, txt, or others)
10. Adobe Acrobat Reader (for creating read-only documents that students
     could read)
11. Other free possibilities I think bear looking at:
http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Business/Educational_Tools/RapidTyping_Typing_Tutor.html
http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Business/Educational_Tools/Rotation_letters.html
http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Business/Educational_Tools/WordBanker_VB_English.html
http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Business/Educational_Tools/Mix_letters_game.html
http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Business/Educational_Tools/Magic_mnemonic.html

We have already been stung by a program previously thought to be no problem (Mavis Beacon :-(
so are trying to be as careful as possible.

Thank you for your help,
ixeye
