Question

GP 9 to GP 10 Upgrade

Asked by: jjmartineziii

If anyone has seen, in my previous question I had a weird error that I have fixed now.

Now, I'm trying to do an upgrade to GP10. It works great until I try to run it. It tells me it needs to run utilities. I click OK and when it opens during the Validating Product Version Information screen, I get an error that says "The stored procedure verifyVersionInformation() of form duSQLInstall Pass Through SQL returned the following results: DBMS: 468, Microsoft Dynamics GP: 0."

After I click OK, I get "There was a problem ascertaining product version information. Microsoft Dynamics GP Utilities will now exit."

This will be a continuous loop. Anyone have any idea?

version 10 evidently does not like your registration number for version 9, probably because that was an upgrade from a previous version of GP software.  As with all M$ version and REG number problems, you are going to have to call M$ to have some dippo "unlock" your locked install.  M$ believes that paying for their software is just not enough -- you also have to suffer their regulatory control too.  Call them.

Just out of curiousity, what service pack is your Great Plains 9?

We are doing the same thing in a test environment at the moment, upgrading from 9 to 10.

We ran into issues because our version 9 was at Service Pack 1. You have to have version 9 at Service Pack 2, before upgrading to Great Plains 10.

Thanks.

This problem occurs if the collations and the sort orders of the DYNAMICS database and of the company database do not match the collations and the sort orders of the Microsoft SQL Server system databases.

To compare the collations and the sort orders of the databases, see the "More Information" section.

That's what I found also. I ended up reinstalling sql server 2005. I guess maybe I had changed the collation without knowing?
