Using workflow to send e-mail... can there be variables in the e-mail

I have a workflow created that generates a message when a new Alert is created... However the e-mail that gets sent is plain meaning that it does not tell me who the account is.

Example:  

Body of e-mail: An Alert was just created for <<account>>.

Where <<account>> is i would like to insert the account name of the account this alert was created for. Start Free Trial
