I'm not an expert on either Server 2003 or networking. We have just installed a server in our business, and have obtained a static IP address. We have a Netopia 3347W-ENT DSL Modem / router installed that is the DHCP server with gateway address 10.0.0.2. We have a server (HP Proliant) with 2 NIC's with addresses 10.0.0.50 (WAN) and 10.0.0.51 (LAN). We have currently disabled 10.0.0.50. The modem/router links through one of our static IP's to 10.0.0.51, and a second of the static IP's is our gateway for internet access and e-mail service from an ISP.
We have Peachtree accounting Quantum running on the server, and while a laptop is plugged into the ethernet LAN a drive maps onto the network with no problem, and Peachtree runs successfully.
We are trying to allow remote access to Peachtree an a vpn, and this is where everything blows up! We have successfully set up a My Network Places conection to the LAN, and connection shows positive in the icons in the tool tray. We are also able to ping 10.0.0.51 while connected remote. However, trying to run Peachtree crashes with the message " Peachtree cannot connect to your Peachtree company data location. Make sure that you have access to the drive where your Peachtree data is stored. If you are on a network, make sure the drive is mapped correctly to the server and that it is connected". All trying to map a drive from my remote laptop fial. Remember, I can connect with not trouble from on our LAN at the office. It's just the vpn that will not work. What are we missing?? We have been trying to get this right for some weeks now.
