Browse All TopicsHi All,
One of my clients is experiencing slow issues with sage and since I have never used sage before I wondered if you could help me with this and hopefully point me in the correct direction.
The server is a quad core from HP with 4GB ram connected to a 100mbit swith and it's running windows server 2008.
The sage version is Sage Line 50 v13.x 2007
I installed sage on the server and restored a backup from the old version and then installed using the "netinstall.exe" (or something similar) to install on client machines but when using sage when opening up some accounts (not massivly big) sage seems to really slow down and has "(not responding)" in the title for about 50 seconds and the sage application goes white and it eventually recovers.
Could someone tell me if im missing a step or what could be causing these issues? Is there an issue with 2008 that slows down file shareing? What could possible slow sage down?
Also does sage run as a service or does the clients simply get data from the files on the server?
Thanks
Billy

In the very first instance Sage recommend use of a gigabit network.

Secondly, your antivirus may need configuring to ensure all generated/changed files are not being constantly intercepted by your AV.
This can cause massive slow down.

Here is also a checklist:
Ensure that the latest Microsoft updates are installed.
Ensure all PCs are running the same version and build number of the program.
From within Sage Accounts, open the Tools menu then choose Network Optimisation. Deselect the The server holding the Sage Accounts data is running a Windows 95/98/ME operating system check box. (If selected).
If you have a large number of transactions, invoices, sales orders or purchase orders that you no longer require, deleting these will increase the speed of Sage Accounts.
