One network folder not available / causing computer freeze up.

This is an XP Pro peer to peer network setup. All computers are XP Pro. THere is one computer set as 'server'.

CLient machine one can access the shared drives on 'server' without a problem.

Client machine two can access most of the drives on 'server' but when we log into the Quickbooks share, the hard drive starts to run continuiously on the client (2) computer and essentially, stops responding. It doesn't do this on any of the other shared drives on 'server', just the Quickbooks shared folder. I can not click on a file in the folder (even if it's not a quickbooks file) without the hard drive on the computer starting to run and then pretty much freezing up to the computer so that the only way to regain control is to use the power button. THis is a laptop computer, Dell, Dual core, 2 gb memory and is fairly new.

There is nothing being recorded in the event logs regarding this in either application or system logs.

The computer does not do this if you start it in safe mode with networking. I used msconfig to turn off anything that I considered to be a potential problem (local sql server, act startup, etc.)

I'm not sure when it began this behavior. We just installed Quickbooks 2007 and upgraded to Job Boss 10.0. I did a system restore to push the computer back beyond these installations but the problem persists.

Any ideas before I rebuild this computer?
