Hi - thanks for replying - They are not actually using wireless, they just have a wireless router - all 3 pcs are wired to the network -
The only thing that was newly installed was 3 APC battery backups and the powerchute software - thats really the only thing, and cant imagine that being the culprit. The specs on the "server" are: Dell Vostro dual core,Win XP Pro, 3 gb RAM.
I will check the rest, but do you think the Powerchute software has any involvement?

First, with QuickBooks, Wireless is painful. I'd suggest upgrading to a gigabit network. It's relatively inexpensive and greatly helps with QuickBooks.
Have you installed anything new on the server? What specs does it have? Have you tried restarting it, the router, and the switch?
Make sure the server AND clients have all installed all the QuickBooks updates.
Try removing Google Desktop from one of the machines and see if that helps on that machine (QuickBooks 2008 installs Google Desktop by default).
Check for someone running a File Sharing program on the network, as it can slow all network traffic down.
