The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

QuickBooks Pro 2009 DataBase Server Manager Problem

Asked by jforville in Quickbooks Financial Software

Tags: QuickBooks Pro 2009 Database Server Manager

I get the following message in QuickBooks Server Manger on the Database Server tab:
"Unable to retrieve connected files and logged in user list."  We can see all the QuickBooks files on the first tab when we scan the directory.  We also have the drive selected under the scan drives tab.

Also, when we have the second user try to connect to the QuickBooks data file on the server, we get:
"Quickbooks was unable to ope the company file <file location> on the host computer <server name>.  Try opening the file with QuickBooks on the host computer or run the QuickBooks Database Server Manager on the host computer...
Error Codes (-6190, -816)"

We are running a Windows 2008 Server.  That is where the QuickBooks data file is located.  All the computers trying to access the server data file are using mapped drives.  The file was just converted from 2006 to 2008.  Any one workstation can access the file without a problem.

I have tried deleting the secondary QuickBooks files that get created and rebooting the server.  QuickBooks support was also of very little help so far.  The articles they sent me either did not address my issue or didn't work.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.
