For a while now, I have not been able to install applications from my DVD drive. This includes Quicken Premier 2006, TurboTax 2006 and 2007, WinTV-HVR, and various other, less known apps. The error messages range from a "CAB" file incompatibility, to "application failed to initialize properly" to "Quicken Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close." I've spent a lot of time on the Intuit boards & w/ Cust service, and they are pointing me toward either Windows system file incompatibilities or a hardware problem with my DVD drive.
I just need to know if (1) there is an easy, one-stop fix to this, (2) do I have to go application-by-application & check file compatibilities, or (3) this is a hardware problem & I should just replace my DVD drive.
