Browse All TopicsMy computers( win xp sp2) on the network are being hit by I-worm sober, this virus is infecting all used exe files then the antivirus is deleting these files. we have AVG network edition 8.5 with lateset updates. the virus is also creating a lot of strange .eml files. if we restore the deleted .exe files, it work for a time then be deleted again!
Any idea to clean the system without formating???

1) Install AVG on all machines and keep them up-to-date
2) Patch your windows machines using WSUS or a third-party tool

3) Since I-worm Sober is mass-mailing worm, you need to make sure no spam e-mails leave your network, otherwise your MX record will get blacklisted and can't send e-mails anymore. Check my recommendations in the following link:
