Question

Choose the folder in which the installation package is located

Asked by: carrzkiss

Hello All;

Specs:
Windows XP MCE SP3
VirtualBox Guest - running Windows 7
Latest AVG 9.0 Free

Trying to install AVG in Win7, I get to a section that states
Choose the folder in which the installation package is located
(As seen in the image below)
Can someone please tell me what the heck this is all about?
I have search hi and lo, and cannot find no information on this.
I have even downloaded the Help file, and checked out the
Exact way to install this silly program, and nothing at all on this error.

I am a Norton man, have been since 1998
The only reason why I am even attempting to use this program is it is:
Free, and works with Win7.

Thanks for all assistance.

It seems that the setup program "lost" the location where it exteract AVG Installation files.

you need to give it the path where the installations files extracted.

BTW if we talk about a free Anti-Virus that work with Windows 7, I recommend you try Microsoft Security Essentials - A new totally free Anti-Virus free Microsoft and Windows 7 compatible!

http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Enjoy!

I think that I am going to go with the Microsoft Deal.
(And as for the AVG, that sounds about right, as I had to download it from winxp and then copy it over to install in Win7, so, that would explain a lot)
Thanks Zvitam

Have same trouble finding AVG's "installation package," but my program is the full 9.0 Internet Security, downloaded from the disk I bought from AVG when I renewed license last Sept.  All files downloaded, but now this thing says, "In order to install or repair some components, installer needs the installation package."  I am to type in the folder where it is located.  Have typed in bunches of seemingly reasonable folder locations...none work.  The Setup folder is in C:\Programs/AVG/AVG9.   Also not sure my typing of path is in correct form.  Help?

It seems that AVG is a huge headache.
The Microsoft Security Essentials, was a pain in the but as well.
It took up a LOT of resources and dang, when I would open a folder with videos in it, that blasted program would scan every video for a something before allowing me to do anything.
I made the mistake once and refreshed the folder with videos in it, and would you know it... Scanned all the videos again.

I am no longer using AVG or Microsoft Security
I am using AVAST!
It seems to be doing a really good job, and when I open a folder it loads like it suppose too.

Windows 7 is still not as fast as I would like it to be, but the programs I run on it, seem to do decent...
(By the way, I am running the Windows 7 90day Trial on its own box now
No more VirtualMachine stuff)

As for the issues with AVG
If you paid for it, then contact them blasted people and tell them that you would a fix for it, or you want your money back.
They HAVE to Support their product, especially the paid ones.

Good Luck
