I am thinking of going from using AVG free antivirus to AVAST. Actually I have already gone to AVAST, but now I must advise my customer base whether to go from AVG to AVAST.
I downloaded and installed the newest version, AVAST 4.8. My biggest problem is how to make AVAST scans operate without manual intervention. I scheduled a full scan at boot, rebooted and when I came back three hours later it was 7% done and had stopped to ask me what I wanted to do with a virus it had found in the system restore area. No good. Same with their other manual scans. With AVG 7.5 you tell the program when you want it to scan and that is it.
AVAST has a very high user rating but this is a show stopper for me. What are the optimal settings to automate ALL AVAST functions for my customers? I assume there must be such settings or the average user would never use AVAST.
