Thanks for the detailed response. I am not doing it until tomorrow, so fingers crossed. Little more confident after your input.
Just out of curiousity, do you have any preference for AV on exchange 2003?

I am about to uninstall groupshield 6 from my exchange 2003 box. Has anyone got any tips, as I got stung last time I uninstalled a mcafee product from a mail server and ended up having to rebuild the exchange server.
Also, I have the normal Mcafee AV file scanner on here (not scanning any Exchange directories) do I need to uninstall that too if I am getting rid of Groupshield?

Stop all of the Exchange and IIS services manually.

Uninstall and reboot.
Once the server comes up, reboot it again.
The hooks in the system aren't actually removed until the system is rebooted, therefore it takes two reboots to be completely clean.
You can leave the regular McAfee scanner in place, but ensure that it is not blocking port 25 and has the correct exclusions in place.

The most common error I see is people not rebooting twice before installing the replacement product - which is where the problems start.
By stopping the services you ensure that the uninstall doesn't proceed too fast.
