After about 1-2 hours of using my computer, I'm getting a "service terminated unexpectedly" failure which cuts of my internet access.
A list of the symtoms:
--------------------------
-No error message pops up. I had to read through the Event Viewer to find out what the problem was.
-Outlook seems to send & recieve e-mails just fine. I can also ping websites from the command line.
-Programs like FTP clients and web clients completely lose connection.
-After the Symantec Network Proxy service har terminated, it tries to go online again, and in the Services console it is labeled as started. However, it seems to have hung/frozen, because I'm unable to get a response when trying to stop/start it. (getting the "service timed out" message)
-After a reboot, everything works fine for another 1-2 hours.
-The problem seems to be triggered only when browsing a website, although I'm not 100% sure on this.
What I've done so far to try and fix the problem:
--------------------------
-Done a complete uninstall, using Norton Remove Tool and then searching through all files and registry to delete every trace of Norton/Symantec entities. I then re-installed the software. I have done this three times.
-Ran all the updates provided by Symantec, and making sure that I have the 10.2.0.30 version.
-Ran all Windows Updates.
-Ran a complete virus/spyware search.
Perhaps the only way is to re-format my hard drive, but I just did this about two months ago, and would rather not go through that all over again.
Has anyone experienced this problem?
