Problems with c:\fauxvirus\carny ride.exe, computer acting odd
My Vista machine apparently became infected. My Norton 360 scan stops at c:\fauxvirus\carny ride.exe when scanning and will not continue. I cannot system restore (even in safe mode it only has the same day, same time.) When in regular Vista, I cannot explore folders (this "virus?" closes Explorer as soon as it opens.) I also cannot keep Control Panel open (it closes that too and resets my desktop and task bar when I try to go into these things.) How can I fix this?

The program I ended up using was called combofix.exe over at Major Geeks. Norton 360, HijackThis, AdAware and Spybot did NOT fix this UNTIL I used Combofix first. That program cleared out the infected files/folders. Combofix then let those 3 programs check and make sure I had no more problems. I tried them all first. Thanks for your help though, JB

You could easily boot to one of these utilities (once it is created), and delete the file from within the CD Bootable OS....
Might even try this , and let it delete on reboot.....
