I am currently running exchange 2003 and Symantec smtp gateway 4 on the dmz filtering both inbound and outbound email. While attemping to uipgrade to smtp gateway 5, i am being told that i would require an addtional network interface so that i can filter both inbound and outbound email. If not 2 interfaces, then i have to chnage the port on which exchange transmits to the gateway. I have tried setting the gatesways outbound host ip to 127.0.0.1 and still keep the default port (25) but the test performed by the gateway says the ip or port is already in use.
Question is, i want to use the same single interface and no port changes on the gateway with version 5. What do i have to do without installing another nic or playing with port numbers on the gateway and exchnage.
