Remove Norton 2010 from Windows 7

I cant remove Norton, when I try I get an error has occurred.
I tried downloading the Norton removal tool, it shows up please remove Symantec backup exec system recovery first. I removed it from the pc but the Norton removal tool still thinks its loaded.
I tried nonav2.6.11.exe with no luck.

Any suggestions please?

what does "Norton removal tool still thinks it's loaded" mean exactly?
maybe it is not checking anything, but check system and if it finds something it tries to remove...

when i run the norton removal tool 2010.0.0.98
i get a message the following program were found on this computer. must be removed using add/remove programs.

symantec backup exec system recovery

the program is not listed under add\remove as it has beeb removed

Try removing Norton 2010 with Revo Uninstaller and/or Perfect Uninstaller.

The Norton Remoal tool is now working :-)

I ran revo and removed norton, i then installed backup exec and ran rev to fully remove it and it did.
