********
Workgroup environment. 12 computers. Netware 6.5 file server running SAV Corp 10.1.5.5000
This events show up on several computers in a workgroup. This service is, of course, the main rtvscan.exe which controls real-time scanning. It's set by default to start automatically
This isn't a communication problem between this service and the definition server is it? Rather, it's the fact that the service itself is just taking to long to start?
The Symantec System Center Application looks for this service to be running to determine online or offline status as viewed in that console. But again, it's not a communication between the server and the client is it? It's just the inability, for some reason, for the service to start locally?
So, if I go into the service on the client and to the recovery tab and have it try over and over or after so many minutes . . . . and it still won't start . . . .do I need to start thinking about re-imaging those machines???? Is there a problem! Virus definitions ARE getting updated regularly and scans are happening as scheduled . . . . but machines appear offline in the console because this service is not running.
I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the client (manually or via logon script). I have planted the grc.dat file back on client and see it get assimilated.
Any other options/suggestions?
