This is still not working for me. I've tried this numerous times. In the past, it did work, but now it is not. I am really frustrated with this product and having to continually reset the password.
In the past, I learned that the user name was: Admin and I belive the password was: admin. This was case sensitive, I found.
Please help.
I was having the same issue, resetpass.bat did not resolve the issue. I even upgrade from MR2 to MR4.1 no change and removed the database to see if it would rebuild and it did not. Ultimate fix for me was to uninstall completely. This was a slight pain but on the positive side after reinstalling from the MR4 disk i gained a few GB of disk space compared to the previous installation size.
I also noticed that when setting up the database again the password field will not allow special characters, so if you thought you used special characters initial try to omit those or use some derivative instead.

From this Symantec thread you can use the resetpass.bat file to do reset the username and password to default username admin and default password admin:
m/syment/b oard/messa ge? board.i d=endpoint _protectio n11&thread .id=1850
1. Open Windows Explorer on the computer where you run Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager.
2. Change directory to the <Drive>:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Tools folder.
3. Double-click the Resetpass.bat executable file. The password is reset to the default password.
4. Be sure to change the password immediately.
Note: If you change the admin account name to something other than admin and then subsequently run resetpass.bat, it changes the account name back to admin.
