SEP client stops service on client machine

Hi, I am new here and have a issue with Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.03.  I have started migrating from SAV10.2 to SEP 11.03 in my network.  I have half XP 32 bit clients and the other half are Vista 32 bit clients.  I have migrated 2 Vista machines and 1 client the service keeps stopping and or crashing. When reviewing logs it is very vague in error explanations.  It does mention an error of 1846, which when contacting Symantec states LiveUpdate not updating Virus Definitions.....which they are updated.

This is a daily occurance for this 1 Vista client.  I have tried removing, re-installing and still get the same end result....HELP!

Thanks for your time,
Melanie

when you said reinstalling? did you remove the software from add/remove programs or did you manually removed all of the files folder and registry keys?

ASKER

I removed it from Add/Remove Programs.  Then I re-deployed it through the SEP Management console...

How can I obtain Cleanwipe?  Is it free, or do you have to purchase it?
Its giving to you by the techs but here it is.

Ok here is waht you need to do.

Save it to the c: then you will need to rename it open command prompt and then type the following command

ren CleanWipe.txr CleanWipe.exe  then hit enter
now you should be able to run clean wipe and force the unistall of sep client.
CleanWipe.txt
Thanks so much I will try this and see if it fixes the issue.
my bad the command should have been
ren CleanWipe.txt CleanWipe.exe  then hit enter

I typed the extension in the command incorrectly my bad :)
Well the Clean Wipe program worked great, now I can't push the install to the client.  Any suggestions?

the cleanwipe.exe  downloads and extracts a UnEngVar.bat with the following PREDEFINED user defined vars with RYAN AQUINO hard coded and should NOT be. This would have been rebundled to include it.

UAppData=C:\Documents and Settings\Ryan Aquino\Application Data
ULAppData=C:\Documents and Settings\Ryan Aquino\Local Settings\Application Data
USERDOMAIN=thesystemshouse.local

UStartMenuPr=C:\Documents and Settings\Ryan Aquino\Start Menu\Programs
UStartMenuSt=C:\Documents and Settings\Ryan Aquino\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
I just did a search on my registry and i didnt find anything related to that registry entry that you mentioned....

Where exactly is it located?
