There seem to machines that refuse to download updates from the parent server, and always go out to the internet for them . We have configured both the Server and the Clients setting to not use LiveUpdate. Has anyone ever had this problem before? Any suggestions?

3. You can try the forcing the removal of sav corp (not by using add/remove) But by using the following tool from symantec.

Rename it using a dos command and you will force the removal. Then redeploy sav client one more time and see if the issue goes away if not then we need to look somewhere else.

When you say they refuse to download updates from the parent server they are being downloaded as scheduled or manually?
You might have 2 problems.
The setting are not set up correctly.
Or the users are launching the virus def update manually.
Other things to look at is what machines and to what group they belong to. There could be a misconfiguration on the group itself if so then compare the settings from another groups that is working correctly save and restart the sav server plus the clients once the client checks in it will take the correct settings.
