The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Analyzing results of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware scan

Asked by kgtgg in Anti-Spyware, Desktop Anti-Virus

Tags: Anti-spyware Anti-virus Security Malware

Last night (with guidance from rpggamergirl here at Experts Exchange), I fixed a serious malware problem on my kids' PC using Smitfraudfix and the free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-malware program.

Though I haven't had any spyware/malware problems with my work PCs I thought it would be a good idea to run Malwarebytes' program on my laptop to see if it would turn anything up. Results of the scan are included below.

My first question: are any of the legitimate toolbars I use flagged as problems? I have toolbars from the following web sites installed in my browser:
Google
LinkedIn
Furl
Sidestep

And also use browser toolbars installed by Adobe Acrobat and SnagIt (screen capture software).

I do not want to remove any of the six (I use them all) but it's not clear to me which, if any, of the Registry Key entries in the Malwarebytes' log pertain to them. Can you help me figure that out? (Also curious to know if there is a database/directory anywhere on the Internet that can tell you what entries are associated with legitimate programs but are sometimes flagged as bad?)

Once that's done, should I mark (any of) those entries on an Ignore list?

Finally, can you suggest a standard scanning routine - what tools to use, how often I should use them, should I be doing it automatically or only manually, so I can see what shows up and decide what to do with it, etc.? I have used Adaware and Spybot together in the past, but now am wondering now if those are the best programs to use (vs. Malwarebytes or others).

Thank you.
