Here is what happened yesterday.
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Internet_Email/Email/Q_23989894.html#a23188128I finally got back into regular mode around 6pm. I was using my normal websites like hotmail, EE, craigslist, OE, Yahoo, wordpad.
First of all, from yesterday, at some point in the recognition of trouble, and messages I was getting, and not knowing if it was really Microsoft or Windows giving me info, there was a screen that looked like My Computer. An image of each drive and a RED alert on each saying "hardware threat", etc. Then there was a box that was covering up part of this screen. It happened quick alot of these popups, I was being asked to download Antivirus 2009, I kept trying to close it and ignore, etc. I was not sure if it was a Microsoft tool or not.
Is it?
In this box I saw my city and state and my name and there may have been other info but I could not read it quick enough. It said "your identity has been stolen".
Who?
How?
What to do about it?
When I rebooted normally at 6pm and around 7pm was ready to shutdown. Nothing happened abnormally but one little popup. I had 3 browsers open and OE. The browsers were to EE, Hotmail and Craigslist. I was ready to close them and out of nowhere here comes loud music out of my speakers. Some sort of modern day music-noise. It was loud compared to the other sounds-volume that I have set. I wondered which of the 3 websites I was visiting at the time was responsble.
Maybe the "lounge" at EE was having a party?
I closed OE, and all 3 browsers, but the music continued. I clicked START, shutdown, got the screen that said Windows was shuting down and the screen that said "saving user settings" and still thru these screens the music continued, until my system was totally off.
Where is it coming from?
Is it the person-people who have stolen my identity?
What can I do?
The only items that Spybot could not fix or remove on the first run was:
adware - couponbar
malware - smitfraud
win32.trafficsolutions or win32.traffic.sol
(Yes, WaterStreet, the music being forced on me was noise, not rock n roll)
