The scans will pull it up, but freeze after about 30 mins and I have to hard boot the computer to get it to shut down. I downloaded Malwarebytes and spybot, and am unable to run the programs. They come up in the task manager, but never open. I can run other applications like word, internet, win media player... just not any type of spyware removal programs it seems like. I've run Hijackthis, but it doesn't pull up anything.

HI: I just finished with this little "critter". I think it has evolved a bit over time. The advice to rename MBAM.exe and the install for Malwarebytes does work. My issue was that the virus kept coming back after every reboot. Malwarebytes would find it, remove it and ask for a reboot. I slowly caught on and put the drive in another machine. (Everyone should have a spare machine sitting around to clean things up with, right?) I went to the Windows\system32 directory of the infected drive and deleted the file (UACinit.dll) that was always coming back. There were also some more files that started with UAC, which were dll files too. I deleted tham as well(Be careful, desperation is a dangerous thing). I then cleaned out all temp directories and put the drive back in the system. After 3 more scans and finding some minor registry entries and stuff, the system comes up clean. This "Critter" is a real fiesty thing. Oh, I also turned off system restore during all this process too. Hope some of this helps someone else.

Here is a solution I found. Interesting read. (http://www.geekpolice.net /virus-spy ware-malwa re-removal -f11/ win32 -cryptorto ugh-to-kil l-t13058.h tm) Requires the Combofix.exe. The procedure is written up by Belahzur (second entry). It requires a renaming of the .exe for the download (links provided). I am putting this one in my toolbox.
