Web based painless, self-configuration chat better.
Unfortunately netmeeting can only host 10 users at a time and it doesn't "warn you" when someone typed anything.
Thanks!

Vic
I need an SMB, enterprise solution. Not a home solution.
AOL, MSN, Yahoo, etc are either software based or web based and users in our company can communicate with "outside sources" which we don't want.
All those "chat" communications have been blocked in our firewall................it
While company users can chat with other company users they can also chat with their friends, people they don't know = waste time, bandwith, resources, MONEY!
I need an intranet solution or something like a password protected forum with chat capabilities.
So, let me summarize. You need an opensource WEB BASED chat software.
You have 2 main options.
1- Go for an IRC based solution. Install an IRC server in your LAN then use any WebBased interface to the IRC server. This is a very powerful solution, but not my personal choice.
2- Go for an entirely web-based opensource chat platform.
We use http://unwieldy.jbeffects.

Thanks for your help.
I found a solution:

Radmin CS 3.0 Instant Messenger. It works on Terminal Services as well.
Let's try it then.
1- Yes, you need a web server but you can easily host it on any standard desktop PC. Just install a WAMP package on any windows box and you're done.
2- Absolutely not, but your mileage may vary. Most of the applications I've pointed you to can be customized adding logos and such, so you might want to tweak a little with the code, but it's not needed.
You just setup the application following the readmes/guides/howtos and that's it.
3- It depends. Some of those applications embed sounds (even if I don't like the idea), most of them will flash your browser window (depending on the browser).
You can test most of them online on their websites. Just surt to the url I provided and follow the links around.
Wamp stands for Windows Apache MySQL and PHP. Since we're speaking about a Web-Based application, you have to follow some pretty standard steps
1- Install a wamp suite (http://www.wampserver.com
2- Install PhpMyAdmin if you are not comfortable with MySQL. Actually, you are only going to Import a database which is pretty easy.
3- Copy all the application files in the webroot (you can choose its location during wamp install).
I admit it's not "double-click on setup.exe", but it's pretty easy once you get whole "web application idea". I cannot provide a complete wt right now, sorry.
ok check this out,

easy to use, no configuration, hope that will solve your issue
corporate free IM server: wildfire (jabber based)
corporate free IM client that goes with this server: spark
integrates with AD so there's no need for additional passwords and easy to manage through webinterface, also great support forums on the internet.

I agree with GoUdVisKe that wildfire (it's now called openfire btw) is an awesome solution... but if you want less to install and configure, you could...
Try downloading this:
http://www.vmware.com/vmtn
and running it on this:

You can still run spark as the IM client.... or GAIM, or Trillian, or Miranda, or several other things.

Use the native MS chat - my daughter-in-laws company uses it to good effect (offices all over the U.S).
